The Library of Congress Manuscripts Division has two containers of Vladimir Nabokov’s papers under seal. Tomorrow, June 23, 2009, the restrictions set by his son are scheduled to expire, meaning that this set of papers will be completely available to the public. To see the papers, you must go to the Library’s Manuscript Reading Room. (via Books Are People, Too)

Happy Bloomsday! A page from the Rosenbach Manuscript of James Joyce’s Ulysses, which is held at the Rosenbach Museum & Library. A different manuscript was auctioned in 2000 by Christie’s; a first edition of the published work recently sold for over £20,000.

For many years Donald Jackson, Senior Illuminator to Her Majesty’s Crown Office, had dreamed of creating a modern, illuminated Bible to celebrate the new millennium. Finally, in November 1995, he presented the idea to Saint John’s Benedictine Abbey & University in Minnesota.¶ Work started in 2000 and is scheduled for completion in 2007, at a total cost of over £2 million. It is taking place in a scriptorium in Monmouth, Wales, under the artistic direction of Donald Jackson and his team of scribes and illuminators. (via The St. John’s Bible | The Ministry of Type)
Personally, I’m not the biggest fan.  But this has garnered the type of publicity most book artists could only dream of.
